Families flock to WaterColor because it hosts endless adventure and entertainment for all ages. This “New Urban” community is full of luxurious accommodations, a diverse mix of restaurants, and plenty of indoor entertainment; WaterColor also boasts a wide selection of natural trails, parks, and — of course — beachside activities for you and your crew to explore. One of the beach neighborhood’s most appealing features is its expertly designed layout, which seamlessly blends natural and man-made elements together.
We’ve listed some fun activities (fit for all ages) for you to add to your WaterColor itinerary, so that your South Walton stay is a perfect getaway for everyone in your family.
Explore Western Lake. The largest dune lake in South Walton, Western Lake is overflowing with scenic beauty and natural elements to take in. Stroll around the Timpoochee Trail by foot, or take to the water by canoe, kayak, or stand up paddle board. Make sure to snap a family photo on the bridge over Western Lake – and check out the neat cattail light fixtures. Continue on (by bike or foot) past the lake to Grayton Beach State Park for more outdoor adventure.
Unwind in Cerulean Park. Bask in the beauty of this well-manicured green space. Kids will love looking after the area’s thriving butterfly community, while adults can stroll among shaded walkways and wide footpaths. The park is connected to the neighborhood town center, making it a convenient spot for a pre- or post-dinner stroll.
Treat the kids to camp. WaterColor Inn & Resort offers a fun kids’ camp where young ones can play games, explore the outdoors, and make new friends. Campers ages 3-12 are welcome to attend the camp’s morning session and/or afternoon session.
Shop ‘til you drop. WaterColor hosts a number of boutique stores and shops for you to pick up the perfect souvenir, kids’ toy, accessory, or outfit. Check out Little Red for one-of-a-kind children’s clothing, Fuss Boutique for a stylish women’s ensemble, and The WaterColor Store for family t-shirts and souvenirs.
Dine in a family-friendly spot. Because WaterColor is such a family-friendly beach neighborhood, most eateries in the area are welcoming to kids of all ages. Stop by the WaterColor Inn & Resort Beach Club for a casual and delicious lunch, or pop into Pizza by the Sea for fresh-baked pizza pies. Favorite dinner locations include Fish Out of Water – which has a romantic view but casual feel – as well as The Gathering Spot, where parents can splurge on oysters and steaks and children can enjoy items from the kids’ menu. Wine World also welcomes all ages; this establishment offers an upscale wine bar, groceries, and a separate family space.
